Mister Fred declares a Holiday
Even though the Freight Wars were concluded before he was born, Mister Fred, the 3rd generation owner of the Round Power Mining Corp, has announced a celebration to commemorate them. And it doesn’t appear as if his intentions are peaceful.
In his words:
As the seasons churn endlessly onward, let us not allow the memory of our seminal conflict to fade from our facets and folds. These hallowed events define our proud drifterdom and thrust forth the virile spirit of The Fringe as we know it.
THE GREAT MAN EARLIE: who forged first tracks into our fecund space, who envisioned a vastor where all drifters fly free, and fought for their riteful claim to independence and prosperity -bravely declared a campaign of liberation from the inexorably encroaching tendrils of Beshtalan arrogance.
Never forget it was the ravenous machinations of DUGALL FREIGHT that forced our hands to draw scythe and shooter, to defend our claims and cargo, to keep the villainous gatekeepers at bay and our craft flowing like the cream we seek.
Those who seek to constrict us will ALWAYS face our fire.
In this spirit, let us fan the embers that bring us heat and life, that they may never succumb to the cold damp of the trussed-up corpo kips that would have us all shackled in serfdom.
For now, we have our freedoms. Let us exercise them with vigor.
In the spirit of this declared holiday, Mister Fred has sent all Drifters a mysterious gift. Their contents are currently unknown but are rumored to be revealed before the end of jubilee.

Response from Dugall Freight
Dugall Freight has grown considerably with the expansion of The Fringe since the war, and has become quite prosperous in the era of peace. They have not found Mister Fred’s declaration amusing. They issued this official response:
Based on our reports, this gathering seeks to commemorate the decentralized conflict of seasons past that has colloquially become known as “The Freight Wars”. All literature and chant coming from Round Power with regards to this conflict is borne of ignorance and should be regarded as insidious propaganda intended to stir troubling sentiment among the impressionable.
Man Earlie was a TERRORIST who haphazardly activated many dangerous groups resulting in the deaths of countless honest workers. Indeed, the conflict known as “The Freight Wars” was no war between states, rather, it was a prolonged, widespread riot. It was a tragic spree of violence, conquest, and piracy and there was nothing honorable about it.
Let us remind all that KLEM EARLIE, Man Earlie’s daughter, signed the Free Squares Treaty, to which all of Round Power remains subject.
THERE IS NO FORMAL CONFLICT BETWEEN ROUND POWER AND DUGALL FREIGHT.
We also see it as our responsibility to divulge that we have gathered intelligence of sound authority that Fred Earlie’s mind has been compromised by mystical delusions and frequent indulgence in questionable gastrocraft and other unsavory substances.
HE IS NOT TO BE TRUSTED.
Any act of hostility toward any person employed by Dugall Freight at the behest of Fred Earlie’s “Freight Wars Memorial Jubilee” will be countered with recompense of equal severity as determined by the Dugall Operations Judiciary and executed by The Cove Stalkers who have been employed in anticipation of rowdy actors.
The Freight Wars were a defining event in the history of The Fringe. Generations later their impact can still be felt. Out of the numerous games inspired by the war, Freight Raiders depicts Freight Wars combat more accurately than most. Many forget that Round Power was more interested in stealing Dugall Freight’s ships than destroying them.
If you have a desktop PC you can download and play Freight Raiders right now for free. You can chose either Dugall Freight or Round Power and eliminate all opposing crew members to capture their ship.
