LEGO Spacecraft Competition
We want you to find some LEGO bricks and make a spaceship. Before we go over all the prizes you could win (and the potential for fame and glory), we want to remind you that playing with toy bricks is fun. It feels nice. It’s relaxing, meditative. It’s like a warm beverage for your brain. It’s a brief escape into a simple world where everything can be reduced to finite pieces. It will make you think, “Why did I stop doing this?” You will forget where your phone is. You won’t regret it. You’ll thank us. You’re welcome.
The winning design will be 3D modeled by our professional VFX team, entered into the canon of the Fringe universe, and of course be featured in the movie.
But there are SO MANY MORE PRIZES. We really want you to play with LEGO (it’s for your own good). These are the prizes:
Everyone who enters on Discord will get a loot card.
Not one, but TWO legendary Drifters will be awarded on Discord..
The remaining THREE Veteran Drifters will be awarded on Discord.
TWENTY mech suits will be awarded on Discord. This will be the only time we will give away this many suits. And most of those will be for weird prizes like "Laziest Spacecraft," “Best Spacecraft under 10 pieces,” and “Spaceship Most Likely to be featured in a Metallica Music Video.”
If you also enter on Instagram, the grand prize winner gets their design into the movie and a $500 LEGO Gift card
There’s an additional $100 LEGO Gift Card for Instagram entries as well.
Rules
We’re looking for smaller spaceships - capacity of 1 to 4 people.
We encourage you to use real toy bricks because it’s fun, but you can also use virtual LEGO designers. We will not accept digitally modified or AI generated submissions.
Designs must be original.
We encourage you to spend a minute looking at all the spacecraft the team has designed on Instagram. The following aren’t rules, just things to consider. Spacecraft in the Fringe are not spacious, they’re cramped. They are utilitarian. They are often configured for specific purposes. Many are modular. We like asymmetry. Most use combustible fuel, the fuel tanks are often visible. Our spacecraft generally DON’T look like sports cars or fighter jets. But, we’re still defining what exists in the Fringe and you might expand that.
When you finish your spaceship post a picture or video of it on Discord in the #lego-submit channel. To qualify for the grand prize you also need to post it on Instagram and tag the @fringedrifters account.
Submissions are due by July 24th 10PM PT.
Spacecraft Depot Update
The team is finally ready to release some specifics about our future spaceship marketplace and how you will get your ship.
These are SAP CAN Loot Cards. SAP CANS are what drifters call tanks of refined Powerball fuel. Just about every drifter needs them - so much so that they have turned into a trading currency out in The Fringe. In our case, SAP CANS is what you’re going to use to purchase spacecraft.
You will get airdropped SAP CANS for holding drifters. Then when we launch the SPACESHIP TRADING DEPOT you can burn loot cards for more SAP CANS and then exchange these SAP CANS for spacecraft.
Some more details:
SAP CANS will be airdropped on a to-be-announced date and this step will be done only once. Each wallet will receive 5x SAP CANS for every drifter held and a bonus amount if a certain tier of drifters is held in that wallet.
The SPACESHIP TRADING DEPOT will open. You can get additional SAP CANS by burning loot cards there. In general, it’s 1x SAP CAN for the most common loot cards and 15x or so for the least common. Rumor has it that 1/1 loot cards could be worth hundreds of SAP CANS
You can spend your SAP CANS however you wish. You could go for one big spaceship or multiple small ones. Every drifter holder will receive enough SAP CANS to buy a ship.
Below is where we are at today with pricing. But! We reserve the right to change this up a bit as we get closer. Pricing ships is hard!
Each model has color variations that do not cost extra - we want you to get a spacecraft that you vibe with. Each spacecraft has at least 2 and up to 6 variations.
Drippy Speaks
The Leak Proof Corporation has released a series of commercials featuring Drippy. You can watch them all on our instagram.
Drippy is now available in our store in keychain form. Drippy’s anxious presence can now accompany you wherever you go. You can buy Drippy here.
Drippy is also featured on this t-shirt that conveniently showcases all the ways you can die in a spacecraft. The shirts will be available for a limited time here.
Assemble Your Crew
After the LEGO competition, there is a single Masscraft competition remaining: Assemble Your Crew, launching a few days after the LEGO challenge ends.
This challenge will ask you to develop a crew of Drifters (all yours or with friends) to take on a series of events. We’ll set the scene, we’ll lay out a few of the possible events, and you’ll submit your crew accordingly. After the submission period has closed, we’ll all hop on a Twitter Spaces to play out each event through a series of dice rolls and improvisational story-telling. The winning crew will receive a heap of loot cards and be glorified across the Discord.
And everyone will receive a loot card for participating. This will be your last chance to earn loot cards before the spacecraft are released.
How can you prepare now? Start thinking about the Drifters you know and which have attributes that might complement each other…
